WALMART CREATES JOBS AND PROVIDES CAREER OPPORTUNITIES:
    • As the country's largest private employer, Walmart employs more than 1.4 million U.S. associates from diverse backgrounds - from seniors who need supplemental income to students who want work experience.
    • For those seeking a career, more than three-quarters of store management started at Walmart in hourly positions.
    • Walmart offers competitive pay. Our average, full-time hourly wage is $12.70 in New York.
    • Our associates choose to work at Wal-Mart because of our competitive benefits, including affordable health plans for full and part-time associates, more than 2,000 generic prescriptions for $4, and customized health coverage options. More than 90 percent of Walmart associates have health insurance through us or through another source. Additionally, every child of a Walmart associate can become eligible for health benefits as soon as the parent is eligible.

WALMART SAVES PEOPLE MONEY SO THEY CAN LIVE BETTER:
        • In 2007, new research from Global Insight shows the retailer now saves American families $2,500 each year, up 7.3 percent from $2,329 in 2004.
        • That's equivalent to more than six months worth of groceries for the average American family; a full-year's worth of gasoline for a one-car family; or almost half of the average tuition at a public four-year university.

IN ADDITION TO JOBS AND SAVINGS, WALMART HAS A POSITIVE IMPACT ON LOCAL ECONOMIES:
            • Walmart supports communities financially. Our property and sales tax revenue support basic services like police and fire departments and schools, and support for invaluable charities.
            • In the fiscal year ending 2009, Walmart collected more than $362.9 million in sales taxes in the state of New York and paid millions in property taxes.
            • In 2008, Walmart Stores and SAM'S CLUB gave over $10 million to local causes and organizations in the communities they serve in the state of New York.  Adding in-kind donations and additional funds raised through stores, CLUBS and distribution centers, Walmart's charitable contributions total more than $13 million across the state.
            • The typical Supercenter raises and gives $30,000 to $50,000 a year to local charitable needs ranging from youth programs to literacy councils.
